Plants

Wild Garlic © Courtesy of Mark Pollitt. The salt here poses the biggest challenge to plant life and it's the hardy varieties which have understandably managed to literally 'cling on ' and survive here. Some trap sand and silt and so stabilise the mud's shifting sands. This creates suitable conditions for other plants to thrive. Typical of these are sea aster, sea spurrey, sea milkwort, thrift and glasswort.
